Girlhood
Stylist
set design assistant
production assistant
In my role as stylist for the project Girlhood, I had the unique opportunity to explore the complexities of femininity and the dynamic interplay between individuals and their environments. Set within the intimate spaces of a bedroom its a reflection of the nuanced experiences of growing up as a girl. Inspired by the classic Rookie Magazine shoots from the early 2000s and the evocative cinematography of Sofia Coppola, Girlhood sought to capture the deep emotions associated with this transformative phase in a beautifully tragic light.
As the stylist, I was instrumental in curating the visual narrative of the project, which involved a significant amount of preparation and collaboration. Working under the creative direction of the lead team, I contributed to set design elements, ensuring that each space reflected the themes of the shoot. This experience allowed me to gain valuable skills in set design and visual storytelling.
To create a comfortable atmosphere for our models, I prioritized open communication and a supportive environment during the shoot. I focused on making them feel at ease, encouraging genuine expressions that aligned with the project’s emotional tone. Drawing from various posing inspirations, I guided the models to embody the essence of Girlhood, capturing the intimacy and complexity of their experiences.
